Extend the field for the item description. Whatever became of this? The extended description is a real pain. If the extended description field is here to stay then make it available for all reports which has an item description. We currently have to go in and create a UDF which is time consuming and difficult.

• I am surprised that this was not included in the 4.4 - 4.50 updates. It is cumbersome to import new items with extended descriptions and having the description field longer would be a benefit.

• It is no longer cumbersome to import items with extended descriptions - the VI job does it automatically, if needed.

• The extended description is a legacy that should be retired. I would be okay if we had two or three separate descriptions. Short at 30 chars, Long 50-100 chars and very long 2048 but allow each one to stand alone. Don't require the first part of each description be the same as the other.
