Sage 100: expand company code to 4 or more characters

Please expand the company code to 4 or more characters to give clients more flexibility. For instance if a client has operations in all 50 states and 100 locations in each of those states - and each entity is its own legal organization and therefore needs to keep its own separate books. It is very difficult with only three characters to easily organize.
