Sage 100 ERP 2013 requires several Microsoft prerequisites which are mandatory to install (if missing) during the initial loading of the Sage program.

However these prerequisites give no notice that they are going to be required, and when the installer detects that they are needed there is no way to back out of the "Do you want to reboot the server now" questions.

If you click the "X" in the upper right it will still prompt if you want to reboot the server.

For whatever reason many companies cannot reboot their servers mid-day or even during the week. So advance warning of this issue and/or alternate means for installing the prerequisites would speed the installation of the upgrade.

Suggestion:

Have a pre-install program which can determine what prerequisites are needed and suggest their separate installation in advance of the Sage installer.

  • This appears to be Microsoft Visual C+ 2017 causing the issue - other prerequisites do ask for reboot permission
