Right now it is difficult to determine which account is being debited and which account is being credited on the transaction journal. It would be nice to have confirmation the journal format is as needed prior to posting.

I totally agree! You don't see the actual impact to the GL until AFTER you update the Transaction register. This is too late because you can't make any changes to the GL accounts when updating the GL register so you are stuck making manual GL corrections if something isn't right.
