Several client's constantly have to rebuild sort files for SO and PO in order for the On SO and On PO quantities to be correct in Item Maintenance. So far the standard response from Sage has been that they don't know the root cause, and the only solution is to rebuild sort files, which just treats the symptom, it doesn't fix the problem.
Maybe some programming could be added to recalculate that number automatically when that item record is selected in Item Maintenance, or some kind of check be added in SO entry and PO entry to check to see if that record is locked in the IM_ItemWarehouse file when it tries to update the quantity.
The only way I can replicate it is if I have a coworked edit reorder information for an item while I place that same item on a SO or PO, but I have a feeling there are other things that could cause this in a multi-user system.

Also see Idea# 25513. Because this seems to be a regular issue, users are looking for an automated rebuild of the sort files. I agree that rebuilding files is just a band-aid and Sage should put more effort into figuring out why files get out of sync in the first place.
This also goes for work order. we have to rebuild sort files almost daily. the bad information on reports also causes a problem. please fix this issue.
This has become a very serious issue. The QUANTITY COMMITTED field in Item_Cost is being written to on an almost daily basic. We have had Sage for 12 years and it's never been an issue. I am unable to use the sort fix as we almost always have a batch open. So I am the only one that can go into the raw data (Item_Cost) and change the QUANTITY COMMITTED field to zero. This bug is huge problem for us and we are a factory and when someone in the factory can't use a tag it stops the process of transferring inventory or creating an invoice. Also, we have two companies; it's only happening in one.
Ditto!! Been working w/Sage for YEARS and NO progress has been made on this issue! IF NOT FIXED, AT LEAST FIGURE OUT HOW TO HAVE THE REBUILD SORT FILES BE AVAILABLE AS A SCHEDULED TASK!
