When there are multiple users entering data on a daily basis, printing, checking progress, adding to the order, adding change orders etc.... Pop up just says in use by another user. Big time waster here is why...

Problem: (What typically I am used to seeing here) is to send out a company wide e-mail to everyone to ask if whomever is in sales order #XYZ please hop out asap, I need to enter data.

Result: Serious waste of time. E-mail is sent to 45 people in the organization. If it takes someone 2 minutes to open the e-mail read it and check their PC that's 135 Min or 2.25 Hrs totally wasted company wide on an e-mail. Not to mention I need to sit and wait and keep trying until I get access in 1/2hr cause that person had an emergency and needed to leave for the day and forgot the sales order open.

Answer: Simple... Pop up that says the user or pc name that it is in use by. We all have User Names... Our PC's are named by phone extension. I can buzz that person to e-mail me when they are out. Only 4 min wasted. Totally company wide. Even if I had to walk down their and power down their PC to gain access if need be...Also 45 People don't get an unnecessary e-mail.

This should be the simplest edit to software. Our Excel Files here tell us who it is being edited by if open by another user.

  • We have the same issue sometimes with sales orders and especially with invoices in shipping. Sometimes the user is in the warehouse picking the order (and doesn't have email). We have to page the building, and since MAS only gives the SO/Invoice number that is in use, and since numbers tend to go in one ear and out the other, we usually end up just waiting for the person to finish and close the order. Lots of time wasted.

  • We have over 80 users and this is a constant problem in all modules which have data entry.
