We attempted to implement Engineering Change Control in the Bill of Materials program. We would like to better document and control changes made to existing Bills of Material. However, we discovered that the program will not allow you to change the quantity of an existing component. Additionally, a component line cannot be deleted and subsequently added back (using the same or different quantity). To add it back one would have to go into Bill of Material maintenance and add another line. That defeats our purpose.

I question whether the change control program has any real application in the real world as it is currently designed. Please enhance the program so that a "change" entry can be made (even if it deletes the component line and re-adds it to the bill on a separate line).
