In the Payroll/Direct Deposit area, there should be a way to deactivate an account so you can't accidentally send funds to an old account (in addition to changing the amount/% to zero).

We recently had this happen (accidentally put 100% on an old account from 2 years ago instead of the new account) and it's been problematic to resolve...it also would be nice to have the ability to auto-delete these deactivated accounts at year-end processing.
