When you export text fields with only numeric characters it is formatted as a number in excel. This cause you to lose leading zeros. It would be better to format text fields line item numbers as text and numeric fields like cost and prices as numbers.
I often have to resort to other more complicated tools like Crystal Reports or VI to export simple data.

This issue with formatting of columns in Excel when exporting from ALE was fixed in Sage 100 2015 Product Update 3 and in Sage 100 2016.
