Currently in Shipping Data Entry you can enter the quantity shipped of a kit type item and it will automatically mark the components as being shipped. I am working with a client who would like to see this reversed. They would like the kit item to automatically be marked shipped when all of the components are shipped.
Their warehouse employees are scanning and packing the components which is being properly recorded in Shipping Data Entry; however, they have to manually enter that they shipped the kit item. There have been instances where this was not done and the invoice went to the customer showing 0 shipped of the kit.

We have the same problem. Our best solution would be a control on shipping complete kits such that the user would be warned and then quantities adjusted (at pre-totals?) to ensure only complete kits were being shipped, and then the quantity would be entered automatically for the 'parent' kit item (which would be disabled for the user). The opposite option would disable all the component quantities and ONLY allow the user to enter quantities on the 'parent' item line, which would populate the components' quantities.
