By adding the ability to preassign lot numbers on PO's like you can do on SO's you add an additional control over items purchased and speed up the time necessary to receive goods that are lot tracked. You can then request a specific lot number when you make a purchase and verify that the correct lot has been received when the receipt of goods is done.
