I've worked with MANY ERP systems and this is the ONLY ERP system that incorporates management of warehouse BIN locations with the Inventory Maintenance of Reorder Method, EOQ, EPQ, Min Order Qty, Max OH Qty. Generally BIN locations are handled similar to a transaction - identifying the BIN location and quantities added/transferred/depleted by locations. There really needs to be security around identifying BIN location such that the user in the warehouse, normally a non-manager, can identify locations of product without having access to maintain other critical data in the Inventory master file. My request: 1) BINs are managed like transactions, by warehouse outside of the Inventory Maintenance program, and 2) security be established to identify who has the ability to add/change/transfer/delete/view BIN locations.

  • I believe this can be achieved by limiting the number of people with access to "Item Maintenance". There are only a few people where I work with that sort of access. All other "non-manager" employees have access to "Item Inquiry". We instituted this new process about 6 months ago because we were having a ton of problems of people going in, who didn't know what they were doing, and deleting BIN locations and MAS does not back up any of that info so it's lost. With only a few people now able to get in and make changes we don't have near the problems we had before. And just and FYI, since MAS doesn't keep a history of BIN locations I have set up a spreadsheet that I update every morning that keeps a history that way. It has come in very very handy over the years in locating "missing" inventory. If you're interested let me know and I can show how I did it.
