In some cases in the factory we want to visually manage parts, (examples: hardware, Zip ties) but want to capture there usage on BOMs. Currently there is not a clear way to setup these parts up so that IRP will exclude them from its calculations or from the purchasing tab.

I'd like to see a new procurement method added called "VMI" or visually managed inventory that would allow a company to specific what parts are visually managed vs those that are managed by IRP(MRP).

It appears a field called PlannedByMRP exists in the table structure for CI_Item but isn't utilized in IRP and doesn't have a clear way to be set to yes or no. If something could be added for that field it would also resolve the issue.

  • Just assign the parts you want to visually manage a buyer or planner code of VMI then exclude that code from IRP when it runs.

  • Joe, Thanks for the input. I will try this.
