We do a great deal of configuration and development work for clients, especially new clients migrating from other ERP systems. This includes creating custom reports, scripts, user defined fields and custom forms. Since encoding the Payroll data, the only way to transfer a company to another server is to copy the entire MAS90 folder to that server.

There is no easy way to get client data for a single company transferred to our server for testing and development then to transfer it back to the client's server if needed. For example, when we configure a new Company code for a client there is no easy way to transfer the setup from our server to the customer's server. Rekeying the setup is not realistic. Copying the entire MAS90 Folder is not practical, especially when using a remote connection. The data files are far too large.

Doing the gymnastics of trying to migrate a company code from one server to another results in unnecessary costs for the client and great inefficiency for the developer. A utility to export the company data into reasonable file sizes that can be transferred over remote connections is essential to properly supporting installed clients and setting up new clients migrating from other ERP systems to Sage 100.
