Since companies are limited to a certain number of licenses for each module, why do we allow users to be in a module and get up and walk away (or worse, leave the building) and leave that module open? I would like to request that the system allow for checking the activity of a user every few minutes. If a user was inactive (no key strokes, no running processes, etc) for 15 minutes, the system should put up an alert "You will be logged out in 2 minutes if you don't do anything" or similar, and then log them out after 2 minutes. Many websites offer this feature (thinking of my banking website for example) and this is a great one to have!

  • Yes please! I agree 110%.

  • This is not only useful for multiple users but for security purposes. I have left my computer running at work so that I could remote in from home, only to come in the next day and find I did not have time to work remotely from home and I had left my applications still up and running when I thought I had exited/logged out. If someone had hacked into me remotely they would also have had access to all my accounting date and programs. Scary thought. But please set it up so that it can be enabled or disabled, specify the time period before your are logged out by user, possibly as a part of user security.

  • Switch to using the Desktop. Licensing isn't an issue then.

  • Not a bad idea. I would at least recommend to get information of what users are currently using the module instead of telling you there are no more available licenses. At least this way you can track down who is using it and ask if them to let you know when they are done. As an enhancement to this, if the users could be listed then why not have a link that lets you send that user a message that will pop up on their screen saying "x" user is requesting access to this module, click "release" or "close" to finish your session. And then if there is no response within so many minutes as specified in the settings as well as no open tasks, then the program should close down for that user automatically so other users can access it.

  • Perfect ! Please do

  • For this to work, the system would have to allow you to retrieve and continue using an incomplete batch. For example, perhaps you are doing research / calls while in an entry screen. You have entered several items already, but are not ready to close out. Booting users without a way to preserve or recall data causes issues - at the least, there will be a data inconsistency error and lost data. At the worst, there will be data corruption requiring file fixes.

  • Perhaps a combination of approaches - if the user has just been looking at a report, it would be fine to log the user out, and there would be no data corruption. Getting a listing of users still in the application would be wonderful!

  • Great!

  • If we just had a utility that showed who had what open, even a report so we can call them and ask them to get out. Currently we use the pervasive monitor on the server which shows the computer name, not the user name so we have to lookup who based on the computer name. Not very handy when 30-40 people have access. I agree with the post above about logging them out if they are just looking.

  • I would love an easy quick look up of which users are in each module. logging them off in 15 minutes, might not work for every company. Flexible parameters for this would be helpful.

  • Sage should sell licenses just like they do for Sage 100. One license per person and that person should be able to access any module they like. For my company now, we have to request a person sign out of the module to be able to work in it ourselves. It defeats the purpose of making our job easier. Sage needs to come up with a solution to fix this glitch. People are wasting more time waiting for others to sign out of the modules.

  • I like the idea, but I wouldn't like it if it was automatic. I would like the ability to turn it on or off per user.

  • Excellent option. For Security purposes. For efficient use of limited number of simultaneous uses.
