We currently use First thee letters of last name and first two letters of First name as employee ID.
When a person marries, thier last name changes therefore ID does not correspond with their Name any longer. Should be able to change Employee ID when needed.

• since this is a primary key, I think it would be better of have an Auto-number option for ID's. This way, there's no dependency on facts that change. We have the same problem you mention in Payroll, but also in AP, AR and Equipment module.

• Put granular security on it so that only an administrator can change it and have it then run the change throughout all the system modules to replace it.
