There's an option to show Retainage invoices only, so why not have the opposite and hide them?
It's hard to see what invoices are actually Outstanding, when there's a whole list of retainage showing.
Also add a Total to the bottom, so you can see the total amount of what you have selected to pay.
Sometimes you have a budget and it would be helpful to see if you are near it without closing out and running the "Invoices Selected for Payment" Report.

I find that annoying as well. You can run a condition on the report where Net Invoice is not equal to zero.
While picking invoices to pay, there is a button on the button on the bottom labelled more and you can choose totals. I'm not a fan that this is hidden, but it is there.
