At the present time the user sms field looks at the entry and combines the @ with the common domain in the sms setup. If you try to cheat and enter the complete address the system drops the @domain.com from the full addresses and adds @smsdomain.com to the adress.
The other issue is that the sms field only allows for numbers 6125551212@vtext.com is valid but myID@yahoo is not. This means that SMS is only good for sending to phones. What about IM sends to AOL or Yahoo users. These user may have ther IM in the Blackberry or iPhone as well as on a desktop.
The third issue is that the sms only send at the creation of the communication and not at the alert time. email only sends at the alert time with the time delta is reached. All options should be allowed to send on creation and or at alert time.
Combine the above with local email, mobile email, sms and IM fields that allow for complete addresses and not common sms domain.
