When a user or the system puts an order on hold, there should be a way to note the reason the order is on hold.

Add a description field or code field to record the reason a sales order is on hold in Order entry. Currently there is only a check box for HOLD and no reason why the order is on hold.

  • Using the same note logic used in AR Customers would allow running dialog on the status of the order.

  • We created an optional field for Order Hold reason. But nothing requires you to enter it if you put the order on hold.

  • There's also a business need to have additional functionality added based on the reason the order is placed on hold. When an OE Sales Order has a status of "On Hold" no quantities are recorded in IC Location details for the items on s/o or quantities committed and the quantities on the order are excluded on planning reports. An option on the OE Sales order is required to allow an sales order to be prevented from shipment until prepayment or quarantine paper work is completed) but still allow the items to be included/planned for in I/C production and purchasing.

  • This is an extremely important option for us. The hold can be for credit reasons, shipping arrangements, and other issues that require us to hold before shipment. Unfortunately the current hold logic removes the customer and inventory requirements from our purchasing and planning functions. We need to pass a first credit check on worthiness and another to stop shipping processing or picklist print until payment is made or shipping release has been granted. We still need to replenish and buy items on this hold type.

  • Two fields will be of great help. One for capturing hold reason code from a list of pre-defined codes. This is required for reporting and analysis. This is also helpful for any email trigger for any specific hold reason. As of now we are making use of optional fields which is not very effective in terms of reporting. Second field should be a free text field to capture the narration / description.
