Adding scanned documents in Accpac will help to validate all authorizations quickly as it facilitates a view of the document being addressed.
Example:
While approving a vendor invoice, the scanned vendor invoice will help the AP clerk to process the invoice without asking for any document.

  • This would be a great feature and facilitate the business tremendously so long as it does not impact negatively on speed if the databse gets to big i.e. have the attachements stored perhaps in a seperate but integrated database

  • General attachments and notes are needed in many areas against records AND transactions.

  • Vistionetix has a document management system: http://www.visionetix.com/products.shtml

  • Also see Altec - they are a Sage Accpac Endorsed Partner that provides electronic document management integrated wiht Accpac

  • The issue with all of these 3rd party products is that you end up with separate data entry icons for everything. You can't simply replace the A/P Invoice Entry Icon with the visionetix one (although their product works really well), can't Accpac give us a "customer menu" builder where we can build the menu system as we see fit, all it's doing is grabbing ocx files and their program id and displaying them on the screen.

It would be like letting us build our own grp.dat on the fly and not trying to do it with security which in cases like this does not work, now that would be nice :-)

  • I am not interested in dishing out $14 000 + for these third party products. We are a small business in Canada and would like the document attachment strictly for CRA purposes.

  • Needs to be built into the system and integrated with CRM as well.

  • This is not new. SAP BusinessOne offer it as standard feature. Why not Sage Accpac.

    Hallo please work something out..

  • Should be integrated w/ CRM.

  • even low-end Sage Peachtree has had this for years.

  • Check www.systronics.com, they have a field extender program in the Accpac SDK.

  • need to be ale to link faxes & other documents (which we have electronically) to orders for for future reference to help get truly paperless and all of the backup data that pertains to an order can be found in one place.

  • Agreed that should be a standard feature, but in the meantime check out http://www.modulo.com.au/default.asp?area=PRODUCTS&menu=eImagePac

Have used this successfully with a few clients. Works well and is very reasonably priced compared to the other document management solutions mentioned above. See also http://www.modulo.com.au/DownloadsPublic/eImagePacComparison.pdf for a comparison.

  • I use eImagePac as there is a minimal cost to it, however, I do agree that Accpac should have this feature (attach document) already built in to the system. As mentioned by others, there are other Sage products that have this feature as well as competitor products.

  • We also use eImagePac. I agree with Troy.

  • I've raised the same with Accpac many time. In fact, I mentioned they can use the Optional Fields, just add a type for Attachments... Since Optional fields are everywhere (Header and Details), this would be very simple...

  • I would also like it to be a standard feature, and not coming as a new module. Best thing would be add as an Option Field, if it is possible.

  • Making use of Optional fields with types like 'long' look a great idea as that takes away the need to customize the UI. In fact, that would also help customers who might have taken add-ons or partner modules.

  • If it is to be done needs to be tightly integrated and neat.

  • This has been here for over 3 years. Any word on when its coming out

  • There is Payables Workflow from Pacific Technologies. It is build using the SDK replaces AP Invoice Entry Screen, attached documents using Workflow Documents and includes an approval workflow engine.

  • For all those buddies who are referring third party module kindly note that we already know this but many other ERP packages are providing this feature and many other as bundle package rather then additional add on from third party which adds cost, reduced functionality and not to forget new versions are not available for their products as they arrive. Now think of a customer who is using Standard Sage 300 then Asset Management from Norming then Document Management and Purchasing Workflow from Pacific then Manufacturing from Auto Simply and Service Manager from Techisoft. Plus you may add Norming Security Modules (like bank, inventory and payable security)

Using all this customer will be always 2-3 versions behind actual release like right now all these are available for version 6.0 major are available for 2012 and none is available for version 2014

  • This has been sitting in the planned for a long long time. Is it still planned??

  • what"s ETA on this feature ?
I need to quote a prospect, can I say it will be available in the next release ?
Don't want to sell a 3rd party and then the customer get your version for free within 6 months.

  • Hi Nicole D,
You cant promise it inside Sage as it is still Vapourware. For this sale bundle in one of the excellent third party tools.

  • Hi Sage, this is an important area, and we all need to talk about the roadmap with current and prospective clients. Can you please share your planning with us re this feature?
    Much Appreciated

  • come on Sage. Give us an answer please.

  • Hi Sage. Would be helpful to know that when the status change to planned can you also add the expected date of change.

  • Added my vote. Should be able to add hyperlinks to documents stored outside Sage Database. Ability to click on link from front tab of header details screens is needed.

  • Hi Sage,m its now March 2016 - can you please update this thread with the roadmap for this feature? You do after all mark it as 'planned' some YEARS ago.
<looks up dictionary> Agile: quick and flexible response

  • We have had Sage accpac for just under 4 years and we have spent a considerable amount of money on third party modules and customising various aspects of accpac. We have continued to pour money into Accpac when all these basic modules/abilities should be in-built into the ERP like other ERP's eg: Dynamics,Sap B1 etc. It really is a shame.

  • Indeed basic things like attaching documents, user access audit logging, IC internal Usage document (that should be printed immediately an internal usage transaction has been posted) should be part Sage 300.

  • Yes, this is a must. Its 2017 and basically every ERP system has this functionality built in. This is needed ASAP in my opinion.

  • Orchid has a product that does this and you can add notes as well. Has been there for some time. Almost all major clients have it. Now a basic requirement. Especially with workflow. Would be very nice to have this included as a basic.

  • absolutely mandatory for a modern ERP. you cannot even add a URL field as an extra field in Sage 300!

  • Is this one still actually planned? Whilst Modulo and PTS are great.... it would be good to have it as a "Native"

  • Would be great to have a button to activate the scanner, if one is attached to the workstation, and the scanned document would be automatically placed in a folder that is predetermined using variables. After specifying a folder location, the variables could be %VendorNumber% and %FiscalYear% etc. to place the scanned document is the respective folder depending on which vendor/customer is being processed.

  • Laugh. Out. Loud.

This idea has been 'planned' since 2014.

Nuclear power stations can be built faster than Sage adding an ideas feature.

  • 11 November 2021...still nothing....

  • I've been checking this post periodically over the last 7-8 years. Looks like it's been dropped from "Planned". I also noticed a lot of the "Planned" ideas have very few votes when compared to some of the other ideas on this site.
