The PDF user guides are numbered 1-14, 2-67, 3-1, 4-3 etc which PDF readers don't always understand. It goes back to the days of paperbound technical manuals where you swapped chapters out upon updates, leaving the rest unchanged. Those days are long behind us now!

Can we get back to simplicity: single ordinal numbers only (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 etc)?

The current "shorter cut" is to search for the string in the contents list, but this is tedious when the search string is quoted anywhere else in the document (which, of course, it should be!).

For example, budget maintenance is on PDF page 80, numbered 3-20 and is the fifth item in the search for "budget maintenance".... and even that string is in the body text, not the heading!

Quickest solution required: SHIFT+CTRL+N, 80, OK. Done.

  • No more PDF user guides in Sage Accpac 5.6, so this won't matter anymore.
