There are cases where we would like to allow a user to see a field, but not change its contents. Currently, UI Customization does not support this.

• An extension to this idea would be to allow customisaton of the field placements......eg, bring Sales Person to front tab, or customer pricelit.

• At that point you're better off in a web/AJAX interface. Compiled UI's don't tend to lend themselves to that kind of dynamic configuration.

• In case you're needing adjustments to business logic that can affect the UIs you can look to Orchid's Extender product. I can affect the read-only status of UI screens and enforce business logic including user specific business logic. Added 2017 Feb 06
