Wouldn't most of the financial managements points be resolved by only allowing the superior to post the batches and subordinate can only enter them? That's how we have addressed it in our company.
Yes, that works with a small office and 1 supervisor. What happens in a bigger office or with multiple offices and you have several supervisors responsible for their own department. Accpac really needs a team/department function to help with these types of issues.
These workflow should be based on the parameter that can set by an administrator
Workflows are becoming an expected part of ERPs. The third party tools are not slick enough yet. I agree Sage Accpac needs an integrated, non-buggy workflow tool across the whole core suite.
I completely agree it should be part of ERP
Supervisors should be notified with the new transactions which need their approval either via email or sms. The approver will logon remotely to approve the documents.
The originator will then receive the approval status via email/sms.
MS Nav, SAP SBO are having these workflow. This has become major limitations to ERP.
A formal enter-and-post segregation should very definitely be optional! If I implemented that in my business, it would impede the reporting process for zero added value. In a larger business, or any business that has a trainee, this functionality can be useful (even if only temporarily and applied to selected users).
Once a user can be trusted, the formal enter-and-post segregation becomes futile and bureaucratic.
A more important workflow is customer and vendor invoice authorisation. Both need to be apply to organisation with and without order and procurement modules.
Beyond that, an employee expense claims workflow is fairly key to most organisations. So if Sage is minded to develop workflows, I think these are the basics that would need to be done.
Look at Pacific's Workflow. They use the Accpac SDK and is quite extensive. Used in conjunction with their Commitment Accounting provides an elegant solution.
The future is not in application-specific islands of workflow tools, but in workflow that interacts with applications all across the entire enterprise and even across enterprises. Extending the workflow in SageCRM to be useful the ERP application would be fine for companies beginning to institute some process management. But, I would rather see ACCPAC focus on making it easier for third-party tools like Task-Centre, Process Maker, BizFlow, Oracle, IBM and others to work with at the task level.
I am happy that this is a planned feature. perhaps it needs to be extended further where certain reports are automatically emails to the CEO's departmental heads etc about Daily summaries or exceptions. for instance, total payments/receipts per day/week/month
I hope this planned feature is an enhancement to "Visual Process Flows" so that it is true workflow in Sage 300 ERP. The competitiion at Dynamics has had it for a couple of releases!
supervisors/administrators should be able to get "request for approval" notification on their mobile devise. They can: Approve, Reject, Hold, Forward to higher superior, with click of a button.
'Planned' has been stuck on this idea YEARS. The idea itself is old enough to get a driver's licence.
SAGE - give us a date. On this forum.

11 November 2021 and still "Planned"
