All UI screens should indicate User IDs.

Examples: Transaction last modified User ID, Batch/Entry creation by which User ID, Transaction entered by User ID etc.

Many auditors are now requesting a report to list User access at transaction level as an audit tracking.

Comments

  • Great idea. It would often be nice to know who posted entries in order to direct questions about them to the right person.

  • Agreed. Accpac doesn't have a great deal of inherent audit tracking, but what little it does have is only accessible to custom reports and ODBC dumps.

  • There should be a Owner field which indicates the original user id who enters the transaction.

it could be later used for workflow. Many times users are questioning whether Accpac has workflow control capability.

This owner field could also be used in OE to filter away the records which does not belong to the OE users. e.g. Salesperson A could only view his own orders/quote etc.

  • This is a big shortfall in Accpac compared with other software I have used - both for security reasons and the simple matter of training should mistakes be made

  • OE / PO have got there with the 'Entered By' user, a good start.
