Most non-retail operations hardly ever ship an item on the same date as the Order Date. Yet that is the default for Accpac OE. We run several Custom Delivery reports, and invariably most show Late Deliveries, whereas it is really due to clerk forgetting to change the Expected Ship Date for every Line Item. It would be more convenient to set Line Item Expected Ship Date (in OE Setup, say) as X days after Order Date (often Today's date). This is not very different from setting the Default Quote Expiration Days parameter in OE Setup.
It would be even more useful to move/copy this parameter to the Product Category table. Most organizations know the the lead time for delivering/shipping Prod.Categ1 is x days, Prod.Categ2 is y days, etc.

Lead times should have been there years ago.
This one's a no brainer in my mind. It would be a great feature.
This should be an out-of-the box feature as few companies have ship dates equaling the order date.
Agree. Perhaps make it an option to choose whether you want the ship date to default to the order date or not.
Agree. Essential for lead time reports.
Does this have to be hard coded into Accpac or can a setup option be made available to make changes to this date
Honestly the whole auto-defaulting thing should be removed. When I change a quote to active it automatically changes the ship date on each line and I have to individually change them back, please just make it so this doesn't happen.
QUOTE Expected ship date are lost (on every single line) when we change it to ACTIVE and it's a pain for my customers. So on top of having an option for lead time if you could make sure that when we enter a date in a quote it doesn't get lost when changing into an active order.

When the header expected ship date is changed, there should be a prompt to propagate the updated expected date to order detail lines.
