It would be good to be able to make an IC item obsolete - so it could still have stock (usually until it runs out) but you don't want staff adding it to orders without a warning saying "this item is obsolete".

Great Idea
It is a good idea!
Awesome Idea, with a field for the new supersceded item #
Inactive = currently not available/out of stock/product still being sourced
Obsolete = not intending to stock in future/superceded/replaced
Agreed. Please bring it on asap.
This is a simple idea that would make stock control so much easier and prevent cash being wasted.
User definable stock statuses would be a better approach to incorporate obsolete, no longer available and also allow a status for back-to-back stock type.
Separate designation would be helpful.
isn't there already an inactive tag against an item? this inactive tag achieves what you want doesn't it?
