This is how subledgers become out of balance with their control accounts in the General Ledger. There should be an option in each module to prevent users from entering the account numbers of control accounts (including those of bank accounts defined in Bank Services) into the details grids or the Account/Tax screens when entering transactions.

Comments

  • Agreed - Every account should have a tick box as to which modules are allowed to post - e.g. sales accounts should be accessible only to AR and expense accounts should not be accessible to A/R. Control accounts should be accessible only to the relevant Module.

  • I must be missing something but there has always been a flag on each gl account to control this.
Toggle on the "Control Account" flag and the subledger tab becomes available. you can then assign what modules can post to a gl account

  • You can toggle the Control Account flag on the GL Account, but this doesn't have any impact in the subledgers - which is where you want the restriction to function.

  • For example, a user can process an AR Adjustment to the Receivable Control account. The result is the customer account is adjusted but the GL entry to the control account is zero ( debit and credit both go to the control account) and the age analysis now does not balance to the Control account.
