One of the good features of Optional Fields is to create things like Project Codes for G/L Accounts. So instead of blowing out your Chart of Accounts for something that is going to be used for a short period of time Optional Fields works well.

Also for tracking Directors Expenses, or Vehicle Registration Numbers etc. The systems works very well at being able to enter and capture the data.

Reporting on it is another question.

When you print out a TB there is no way to get it to split out the Transactional Optional Field Value as an option.

For Example if you had GL Account 4000 and this had three Project Codes Against it. Project Codes A, B and C. At a transactional level lets say that A had 2000, B had 50, C had 250 posted against them at a transactional level.

When you print out a TB you only get G/L Account 4000 showing a value of $2300

What would be really awesome is if you had

GL Account 4000
4000 - A $2000
4000 - B $50
4000 - C $250

Also letting you filter by transactional optional field would be really good as well.

Being able to easily apply this into FR would be required and equally as awesome as at present it's quite painful getting this info into FR and it all has to be hard coded which is a real pain.
