ACCPAC should have localized features/functions which are country specific statutary requirements. Most of other ERP solution has this to address country specific regulatory requirements

  • Such as what?

  • regulatory requirements like in Indian taxation and document numbering

  • Can you be more specific?

  • 1) In India we need to follow certain rules like when importing additional costs at line item level and tax calculation pattern based on that additional cost as of now we need to enter 3 to 4 receipts for one single actual import receipt. and a bill of entry need to be there for tax reporting purposes.
    2) Customer invoices are identified by their nature like tax and export import.
    3) Locations can have their own tax registration nos currently we do not even have the optional field support to capture the data.
    4) No option is available to capture MRP based tax (Max Retail price)which is required by most of companies
    5) Amortization/tool cost provision
    6) No Payment invoice where we will not collect money from customer but need to disburse to duty as per Govt rules.
    7) Tax option for location transfers.

I think sage needs to study for Indian regulatory requirements to make Accpac more successful India. Many of leading ERP softwares have these features as India specific Patch.

  • I agree wtih Shamprasad. We are just in the process of moving over from Sage 50 to Sage Accpac, as we thought this would be a more multi-national product. In some respects it is, but it is surprising that the taxation side of the system is so under-developed.

We have to set up companies for UK, South Africa and Australia, each with different VAT (Tax) reporting needs. For the UK we have a reporting package which should give us what we need, but for South Africa and Australia we have to rely on the standard tax tracking reports.

Particularly for South Africa this poses problems for us, as the standard Accpac reports do not give sufficient detail (eg. customer/supplier VAT numbers), so we will have to produce our report manually, outside of the system. I would like to have been able to see a report out of the system which looks like the SARS VAT return, which I can then use for submission on-line. I would also like to see a detailed breakdown of inputs and outputs. SARS sometimes requests this information, for periodic reviews, so it makes sense for a full, auditable report to be available direct from the system.

  • I agree, localisation needs to be better, even if it could be offered as an extra paid module for each country to cover the development effort. Having important features like payroll and government reports available only to North America is frustrating.
