Retailers (and others) will often sell companion items together. For example, a TV remote and batteries are always sold together.
In order entry they would simply like to see these "Tag-Along" items automatically appear as separate line items below the "Master" item.
In addition to saving a great deal of time and key-strokes at the order desk, it would minimize errors and also ensure that no "Tag-Along" items are overlooked.
The major way in that it differs from Kitting and Bill of Materials is that Kitting an BOM items appear as a single line item in Order Entry.
There would need to be a "Tag-Along" Item build sheet function added to I/C setup (similar to kitting) where the user would specify the "Master" item and its associated "Tag-Along" item(s) along with their quantites. No change to the I/C Items function would be necessary.

Interesting idea. We would normally get very similar functionality by using a kitting item. Components of the kit can be viewed from the order entry screen. You can you amend the order confirmation report, shipment and invoice reports to display the components.
I do however like the concept of 'tag-along'.
you could achieve this with Orchid's Information Manager popup functionality but agree it would be nice to have this std in the product, they have alternate item functionality there already so it shouldn't be too hard to build this type of stuff in anyway.
The trouble with using Kitting for this is that once the kit is ordered, the extra item is stuck on the order. Kitting is too inflexible.
