Add a "promise date" or "requested date" to OE Orders so users can track a date the shipment has been promised to the customer, or a date the customer has requested the order be delivered. This needs to be separate from the Expected Ship Date, which is an internal date used for managing expected shipments. Currently clients can use an Optional Field to track a promised/requested date, but it's becoming a more common request and would be good to have it as a standard feature. It can work similarly to the Expected ship date field, where a default date on the header populates to the details and can be changed there, if needed.

I think this would add a lot of value for our customers! To be able to track towards what they want AND what we commit to are two very different things. This could really impact customer satisfaction by being able to measure how well we are able to deliver towards what the customer wants vs. what we say we can do. Great idea!
I agree. This is a really good idea. To add onto this, if we also had a field in the customer record (or the ship to address, probably) for outbound transit times in days, we could compare the expected ship date and the promise date, and see whether the order will ship in time for it to meet the promise date. A warning would show if the order is not expected to ship in time. All to put the "planning" back in Enterprise Planning!!
This would be a very important addition. Tracking on-time order performance is a critical issue for most companies, and providing a convenient means to do this by order line item would be of great value.
