More and more things require barcoding of some sort. Retail, health care etc...
The coding is different for a case than for an inner box or bag, which may still be different for the final consumer product.
We need a place to store each individual one in accpac I/C.

Make your item codes your UPC number/Product code
Use Manufacturer's Item Numbers - it's perfect for this including the different UOMs.
That only works if you are not re-branding the products and if you have the same item number format as the original supplier which we don't in most cases. Most of our goods are private labeled, and some vendors require their part number on the PO as well as our own.
I am thinking more along the line of expanding the UOM screen on the item setup to include volume, weight and actual UPC/Code39 value. I would have the a button to calculate the volume based on the Stock UOM field so it would calculate out, but you have to select the button to make it work because an inner box volume x number of inners does not usually quite equal the master case volume.
