With Sales Orders, create Blanket Sales Orders that follow the model of Orders , Lines, and Releases.
Here's the scenario. When you have customers that want the same part shipped over and over, on a moslty regular basis, it would be easier to manage 1 order for the PO (which might not change for years in some cases). The PO would have a line for each different item. Each line would have a release schedule (releases). this release schedule can change based on customer requirements. The quantity to be shipped may also change for some, or all, future releases of that line. As well, if price changes are agreed to, future, un-shipped releases would accept price changes for each remaining or subsequently created release after the date of the price change.
If you had to do this in the current system, you would have to create tons of orders to be able to track on-time delivery. But if you do it with lots of orders for the same PO, customer, and item(s), then if you had a price change or delivery date changes, you would have to go in to each order to make these changes.
