OE Credit note security needs to be strengthened - there should be some sort of approval process and at least an option to be able to put a credit note on hold, preferably automatically. That way an authoriser could approve by taking it off hold - a security setting would then be needed to allow removing hold.
This is a big security hole in the software.

This is a huge weakness, a credit note is effectively cash, and there is no means of controlling this. Credit notes should be raised in batches and approved following a review process. Please fix this huge loophole in controls.
Yes need attention. One way to advance this is for workflow functionality inside the Order cycle - this would be a huge benefit. There was discussion about internal Sage workflow YEARS ago, we were asked about areas,
etc. Any feedback Sage?
Currently we have order types 1-4. What about adding a Type 5: Order Credit, that could be approved and turned into a Credit Note following the same logic that turns an Order into an Invoice? This is also an issue in RMA when taxes -- which are not part of the RMA module -- need to be adjusted on the credit note. But there is no way for RMA to create the credit note without posting.
