We use the Accpac Item number change.
Basically we are a fashion design house, we sell to major retailers and time is off the essence.
So we put on an Item EG BIGCO1234, raise a sales order on Tesco and a PO on the relevant factory
Later BIGCO says we need this item called 9876GREEN25 so we run a number change so all the PO, SO and Inventory get changed at the same time and said item is now known by the new fashion number.
Problem is that we have now had 4 items where the number change suddenly falls over mid process and locks the item numbers and fails in it's job
I know - backup first then run etc but we are running a company not a computer program!
So who has a fix so that the number change will work EVERY TIME!

This sounds like a technical support issue. Have you contacted you Sage Busines Partner?

Kick everyone out
Do a full database dump
Do the item number change
as I say not a workable solution we are running a company not a computer program. The item number change is a module from Sage - it should work EVERY TIME!
What was the error message?
you aren't doing different types of changes in one go are you? In other words, "change" and "combine" in one posting. I haven't used Item changer but I use Account changer and I know it hangs up if you combine two change types in one posting.
