Service Canada has an EI Premium Reduction Program for employers who offer to their employees any of four types of short-term disability plans that meet certain requirements. Each of these type of plans has a different reduced employer contribution rate. For example, one type of plan reduced the employer rate from 1.40 to 1.219. In order to qualify for the plan however, the employer must return 5/12 of the EI premium savings to the employees. We need to create an Earning code for the amount of that savings that will be added to the employee's pay. An automatic calculation of that savings is not possible because the calculated amount will be based on a percentage of the Employee's EI premium deduction.
