Add a StartDate field to the item prices. This is NOT the start date on a price list but, instead, adds a StartDate for each item within the price list. When the routine that is looking for a unit price searches it will look for a price for the item that starts on or before a given date (like the order date).

e.g.
20140101 A11030 $10.00
20140301 A11030 $12.00
20140501 A11030 $13.50

This gives you excellent control over your pricing over time. If you know that you're going to have a price increase on May 1st you can import the new prices at any time. If you enter an order dated May 1st you get the new pricing, if you enter an order with a date of April 30 then you get the old pricing. The data entry clerk doesn't have to switch price list codes and clients with thousands and thousands of times don't have to shut order entry down on May 1st waiting for the price lists to be updated.

  • Idea added 2014-11-21.

  • The manual is ambiguous, it implies that this happens - however the new price dates over write the old unless it is a NEW price list code. This is essentional and urgent.

  • AutoSimply have now written a very comprehensive pricing add-on.
