We would like to raise a request regarding the current transaction entry flow in Sage 300, particularly within the Order Entry and Purchase Order Entry modules.
Currently, Sage 300 only provides a “POST” button, which immediately processes the transaction. However, in our day-to-day operations, we often need to enter a large number of items. During this process, any system lag or interruption can result in data loss or the need to re-key everything.
We are requesting the implementation of a “SAVE” button that allows users to temporarily save the transaction as a draft without posting it. This would enable users to:
Save partially completed transactions,
Re-open them later for further editing,
Only post the transaction once all entries have been verified.
We did try to use the current POST function to save, but we noticed that after clicking POST, any subsequent changes to Quantity fields do not correctly trigger updates to the Quantity Committed or Quantity Backorder fields. This makes it difficult to finalize orders accurately once POST has been used.
Example provided :
You’re creating a Sales Order:
You enter Item A – Quantity: 20.
You click the POST button to save.
You return later and retrieve the order using the Order Number.
You realize Item A should be Quantity: 10.
Our Suggestions:
Introduce a "Save Draft" button that stores the transaction without performing any stock commitment or posting to subledgers.
Allow users to resume and edit the draft until they are ready to officially post.
This functionality would greatly improve user efficiency and reduce the risk of errors or data loss during high-volume entry.
Thank you for your attention and support.
